Let’s Build Beyond Housing-Let’s Build Hope and Community

AN URGENT NEED FOR THE PEOPLE OF BROWARD

A Letter from The Pantry of Broward CEO

Dear Friends,

For decades, I have called Broward County home, and since helping to establish The Pantry of Broward, I have had the privilege of witnessing how this community comes together to care for one another. Today, I invite you to be a part of a truly transformative initiative to support our seniors, Lofts on 6th.

This $40 million project located in the Historical Sistrunk District will provide 90 seniors with stable housing, vibrant community spaces, and on-site support services that foster independence and connection. These are the parents, grandparents, and mentors who have shaped our lives, and they deserve the dignity of a safe and affordable place to call home.

The need is urgent! Over the past decade, housing costs in South Florida have skyrocketed by 80%, leaving many seniors struggling to afford even the most basic necessities such as food, shelter and medications. For 16 years, The Pantry of Broward has worked tirelessly to ensure food stability for our community’s most vulnerable. Now, with your help, we can take the next step: addressing the critical shortage of affordable housing.

We are just $5 million away from bringing this vital project to fruition, and your support will make a profound and lasting difference. As a token of our gratitude, significant contributions will be recognized on our Legacy Wall of Transformation, a permanent tribute to those who helped make this life-changing initiative possible.

Together, we can ensure fewer seniors in Broward County are not left without basic human needs. Let’s build beyond housing – let’s build hope and community.

Join us in this mission today.

With gratitude,

Maureen E. Luna

Some of these features include more convenient, covered parking for donations and food pick-ups, larger warehouse facilities for cold and dry food storage, and modern office space for the staff and volunteers to continue to provide the best care and hospitality to our seniors.
